The United States Senate, in a vote taken Thursday morning, has unanimously confirmed the appointment of William Hochul Jr. to be the United States Attorney for the Western District of New York. Hochul will be officially sworn in sometime this week.

More than 600 young female gymnasts will compete in the 29th annual Niagara Cup Championships on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Koessler Center. The Niagara Cup is hosted by Gleason's Gymnastics and is the largest state qualifying invitational for female gymnasts in Western New York. There will be teams competing from all over New York State and Pennsylvania and as far away as Georgia.
